Hotel Inclusive Recruitment Education (H.I.R.E.)
Project number: 2024-1-PL01-KA220-VET-000253671
Project duration: 1st November 2024 – 30th April 2027
Objective
The aim of the project is to effectively support employers in the hotel industry in solving the problems of staff gaps. The goal will be implemented in two ways. On the one hand, by persuading hoteliers to open up to new target groups that constitute a potential reservoir of staff (deaf people, mature people aged 50+ with little professional experience). On the other hand, by equipping hoteliers with educational tools that allow for the effective preparation of representatives of these groups to work.
Co-Funded by the European Union. Views and opinions expressed are however those of the author(s) only and do not necessarily reflect those of the European Union or the Foundation for the Development of the Education System (FRSE). Neither the European Union nor FRSE can be held responsible for them.

The first are hoteliers (owners, management staff) – diverse age, gender and education, usually high commitment and experience in the industry. They are struggling with the problem of staff shortages and competence mismatch of potential candidates and they think stereotypically about deaf people and mature people and do not take them into account when hiring. The project will help reduce the gap, expand knowledge about target groups both as employees and potential customers (better knowledge of needs).

The second target group are employees in the hotel industry – different age, gender and education depending on the job position; usually overworked (especially during peak tourist periods) due to staff shortages; rather closed to the indicated new groups of employees due to the stereotypical perception of these groups in societies (including through mass media). In the project they will receive knowledge and skills that will allow them to be more open to diversity.

The third target group are deaf and hard of hearing people looking for a job - rather young people under 40, usually with secondary or vocational education, without self-confidence, who, if given a chance, can be good employees. Tailor-made training will allow them to believe in themselves and effectively apply for a job in the hotel industry.

The fourth target groups are mature people 50+ with little professional experience, mainly women who have taken care of dependent people for a long time, e.g. children with disability or other family members; education - often higher or secondary in a specific field, family situation made it impossible to pursue a professional career, but they are great logisticians because they have been running the house for many years, often providing 24-hour care; they can't find a job, they don't believe in themselves. Benefits of the project - tailor-made training will allow them to believe in themselves and effectively apply for a job, they have the required hospitality features.
